Free studio time for local artists, the Boston Music Awards’ 617Sessions are back
BOSTON, MA, APRIL 3, 2019 — For a third consecutive year, the 617Sessions open up the studio door, continuing its tradition of highlighting the sound of the city and supporting local artists.
In 2017, the Boston Music Awards launched the 617Sessions; a music program that provided complimentary studio time to local musicians. Motivated by a desire to alleviate the financial barriers many artists face in the recording process, the 617Sessions have since increased access to studios, helping artists do what they do best: create music.
Following the success of last year’s programming and the release of its first compilation ‘617Sessions: Sound of Our Town 2018’, this year, 10 new artists will be invited to spend an entire day in The Bridge Sound & Stage to record and produce their own track.
Once mastered, the 10 tracks will be incorporated into the Boston Music Awards voting process, with the public voting for their favorite. The artist with the most votes will be invited to perform at the 2019 Boston Music Awards.
To elevate the support artists receive throughout the program, the 617Sessions have partnered with FollowingBoston. FollowingBoston will utilize their creative flair, visual expertise, and social media networks to document the recording process as ‘Official Photography Partner’.
Applications for participation in the 617Sessions are now open to all local artists (of all genres) via 617sessions.com.
