BOSTON, MA, APRIL 5, 2019 —  The Boston Music Awards today announced that the 2019 ceremony will take place at House of Blues, Boston — for the third consecutive year. The Lansdowne Street venue will host the awards on December 11, 2019. The 2019 events marks the 32nd anniversary of the Awards.

 

Winners will be announced on the night, along with multiple live performances from nominated artists.

 

A limited number of early bird tickets are on sale now via bostonmusicawards.com/tickets. To mark the 12/11 date, early bird tickets are available at a discounted rate of $12.11.

 

The Boston Music Awards once again open up the Nomination Committee doors to new members. New – and current – members will help shape the nomination process and identify the 2019 nominees.

 

Applicants who have a day-to-day connection with local music are encouraged to submit their info starting today via bostonmusicawards.com/join. Applications are open until April 19, 2019.

 

As the new committee takes shape, the Boston Music Awards will see the introduction of “midterm ballots” for the first time ever. This move will focus the nomination committee members (including those recently appointed) to submit ballots based on artists’ work between September 2018 and February 2019, the first half of the BMA yearly cycle.

 

A secondary ballot — or “final ballot” — will take place in September, which will focus on March 2019 through to August 2019. Both ballots will then be combined to form the final 2019 nominees.

 

“The introduction of the midterm ballot will allow our nomination committee to provide us with a more rounded snapshot of the year.” says Paul Armstrong, owner/producer of the Boston Music Awards. “By combining both ballots, we’re more confident than ever in the BMAs celebrating the very best of Boston music.”

If a nomination committee member submits the same nominee in the same category, in both the midterm ballot and the final ballot, that nominee will only be counted once when making up the final list of 2019 nominees.
